Kankesathurai Railway Opened

Kankesathurai Railway line was opened by the transport minister on 2nd January 2015. A Yal Devi exhibit train went from Jaffna to Kankesanthurai which is also known as KKS yesterday after 25 years. Transport Minister Kumara Welgama inaugurated the train service yesterday morning hours with the presence of Ministers Susil Premajayanth, Reginald Cooray, Douglas Devananda and Northern Province Governor. The Northern bound ‘Yal Devi’ train left for KKS connecting the North and South by railroad for the 1st occasion since the train services were stopped in the course of the war. Train services will be open for the general public from today onwards.
