President Mahinda Rajapaksha is going to open up the Jaffna – Kankesanthurai section on 2nd of January through inaugurating the northern bound “Yal Devi” train to Kankesanthurai.

The new Kadugannawa Railway Museum was declared open by Minister Kumara Welgama on the 27th of December 2014 for the 150th Anniversary of Sri Lanka Railway. A memorial ticket was issued free of charge & a memorial stamp, a book & a Video disk also was issued

Nothern line train services disrupted due to a section of railway between Thalawa & Thambuththegama is under water. This had happen due to the high rainfall took place at night yesterday. Due to this incident all trains of the nothern line will be running late including the special train of Class M2 Locomotive.
